Effectiveness of in-class excel-based active learning activities for transportation engineering courses

Recently, transportation engineering industry members showed concern that students lacked the skills to solve real-world problems using spreadsheet data analysis. In response circumstances shown by members, this study investigated how engage in a better way incorporating analysis during class and helping them learn course topics. Helping link theoretical knowledge can be challenge. effort, in-class activities worksheets were redesigned integrate with Excel example built-in tools, including cell references, equations, tool pack, solver tool, conditional formatting, charts, etc. The effectiveness of technique was students’ evaluations course, enrollment data, comments. Based on those criteria, it is evident may increase student learning.
